Obituary

Ruthe Pechter, nee Rosenberg, 93, passed away peacefully on Sept. 30th, surrounded by her adoring children. She was the beloved wife of the late Morris W. Pechter for 56 years; cherished mother of Eileen (Danny) Nathan, Deborah (Larry) Danziger, Sheila Pechter, Brad (Helene Rosenblum) and the late Edward; treasured and fun-loving grandma of Gabriel Nathan, Greta Pechter, Jacqueline (Ryan) McMullen, Zachary (Ashley) Danziger, and Noah and Etta Pechter; adored sister of the late Judith (late Irving) Gold, late Maurice (late Sylvia and late Ethel), Elaine (late Manny) Mills, late Charlene (late Larry) Salzman, the late Arnie (late Naomi); special sister-in- law of the late Esther (late Charlie) Berkson and late Harry (late Josephine); devoted and loving daughter of the late Nathan and late Fannie; adored Auntie Ruthe to many nieces and nephews. Ruthe grew up in Chicago, and following high school in Duluth, MN, attended Northwestern University night school for several years. She proudly served her country in the US Navy WAVES during WWII. After the war, Ruthe and Morrie raised their closely-knit family of five children in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the city’s southwest side. She was an active member of Hadassah, Sisterhood, B’nai B’rith, and after her children were grown, she worked alongside her husband Morrie in their family hardware store. Ruthe will be remembered as loving, kind, generous, creative, intelligent, and talented by her many lifelong friends and family. We all delighted in her prolific works of clever and hilarious poems, songs, skits, and parodies. Singing was onej of her great talents that brought joy to all those she touched. She will be missed and loved forever. The family extends a special thanks to the warm-hearted people of Silverado Memory Care Community in Highland Park, who lovingly cared for Ruthe. She kept them laughing with her infectious smile and sense of humor.
